RENSSELAER POLYTECHNIC INSTITUTE (NY) ANNOUNCES NEW MAJOR

Up until this year, Rensselaer has only had one major for undergraduate students in the School of Architecture – a Bachelor of Architecture. The School of Architecture is excited to announce their newest option for undergraduate students, a four year Bachelor of Science in Building Science. This major focuses on the phenomena that inform the design of next-generation buildings. Faculty use a holistic approach in their teaching style and curriculum to develop student’s understanding of buildings as a set of interconnected systems that can be built, modified and adapted to meet requirements for functionality, energy optimization and human contact.

Students in this major receive preparation for direct entry into one of the building industry’s main sectors ranging from real estate development to construction management. It also serves as a foundation for advanced degrees in architecture, engineering or business. Students who excel in this major also have the option of coupling this degree with another in the duel degree programs or co-terminal program (five-year Bachelor and Masters of Science).
